Flutterby Fun - KIDS SUMMER WORKSHOP

Come along and learn how to make gorgeous butterflies using twigs, lollipop sticks (you can choose both if you like), with gorgeous natural yarns, beads, sparkles and lots of things to make them pretty.

 All materials are provided during this 2-hour workshop and children will go home with at least one butterfly, maybe more! They can make them large or small and have great fun being creative with yarn, glue, beads and buttons!

 I emphasise the use of recyclable and good quality materials so everything the children use is as natural as possible.

How to Crochet an Oval base for a Bag or Basket

Before you attempt an oval shape, you should know how to chain (ch), double crochet (dc), and work in the round. You will need yarn and the appropriate (or one size smaller) crochet hook. See TIP below. TIP To avoid holes in your oval, be sure to use a smaller hook for the yarn. In this tutorial, I have used a larger hook to emphasise the stitches. Crocheting an oval starts with a foundation chain. You crochet around the foundation chain, first along the top, then rotate the chain to work around the bottom to complete the round.
