My sister and I have taken to knitting in front of the TV. I've been doing it for years and now she's got hooked on it too. She went from making things with holes and weird cast offs to making amazing hats and beanies as well as cowls and scarves for everyone she knows. Even her pain specialist and the anaesthetist! I am delighted she's got the bug as it's so relaxing and satisfying to make stuff.
I've been knitting and crocheting like mad too and, unlike my sister, I don't mind frogging or starting again. I recently took out a crocheted cocoon jacket I'd made from Noro Silk Garden as I wasn't satisfied with how the colours showed themselves in the crochet and now I am knitting it in 30cm squares and will put it all together once all the squares are done. It might still become a cardigan....
Here is a shawl I made for a close friend for her 60th, which was three years ago!!! I finally finished it and will post it next week. I hope she likes it after all the time it's taken to make.
Some of the shawls I made with self-striping yarns. I used a clever pattern where you just increase on one side on every other row. Then I crocheted a contrasting or complementary colour on the edges.
This shawl is made with Drops Brushed Alpaca and Silk with a crocheted border in a complementary colour. It's as soft as down and so warm and lovely to wear. It will be a gift for an old family friend.

This is a scarf I knitted with Linen Stitch, which makes it look like it's woven. A very nice way to use up scrap yarn if you have it as it's knitted on the horizontal.

This scarf and hat are made from a pattern from Purl Soho, one of my favourite websites. It's made with a now unavailable Rowan yarn with a sparkle in it. I can't remember the name of it. It's very thick and warm. The pattern is for beginners so ideal for anyone unsure of themselves as it's so easy.
