After a series of highly successful upcycling workshops with Kilkenny Libraries, I am now running an afternoon upcycling workshop at It's A Wrap Studio in Ferrybank, Waterford. Come along and learn how to turn fabrics into yarn, using things from your own wardrobe or even old sheets . Or, you can use the materials I bring along if you're not sure what to do.  Once you have the 'yarn', you can then crochet or knit bowls, baskets, bags, rugs etc etc. The sky's the limit with what you can create. Instead of stuff hanging about cluttering up your cupboards and wardrobes, you can make them into something useful and beautiful!  You'll never look at your old clothes in the same way again... Our award-winning knitting programme for children offers exciting and imaginative knitting classes for boys and girls aged 7 – 12. Knitting is a great way to encourage their creativity, concentration, relaxation and even improves their maths skills. It’s a wonderfully satisfying hobby with endless possibilities for the developing creative imagination! In this 3-day workshop, the children will be provided with all the materials needed to complete a project. The first thing they’ll do on day one is make their own knitting needles!  Each child will receive a bag with yarn, needles and a pom-pom maker and will make a basic rectangle which can be turned into a bag or bunny e.g. with pom-poms. SAT JULY 1  13.00-17.00    2D NEEDLE FELTING -  TURN AN IMAGE INTO A 2D NEEDLE FELTED PICTURE FOR FRAMING VENUE: It's AWrap Gift & Arts Studio Unit 1, 48 Fountain Street Ferrybank, Waterford, Ireland Free Parking DIRECTIONS AND MAP Using a photo or image, in this 1 day workshop (4 hours), you’ll learn how to use needle felting to create a 2D version of that image, either as a card or a picture to frame.   Needle felting is very versatile and allows you to create any kind of image using natural fibres like wool, silk, bamboo, yarn etc. Typically, we felt onto wool, an old blanket can be ideal, or wool felt.
