Nuno Felting - A Scarf from an Old Blouse

I love Nuno Felting, the art of wet felting onto silk or other light fabrics.  It's so satisfying and the results are invariably beautiful.  Here are some photos of a piece I made.  I used a silk top I had bought many years earlier that had worn out and was not repairable.  I cut out all the pieces from the main body and laid them out in a scarf shape.  I laid out the colours I wanted to use and put fibre over the gaps in the pieces to bring them together.  I added some tubular yarn from Rowan Yarns that I cut and stretched out like a cobweb (see the blue-ish piece in the middle of the photo.  Then I added silk 'hankies' which are straight from the silk cocoon and dyed various colours.  I laid those on top of the fibres.  I laid fibre over the edges to bind them all and added silk threads to that. This is what it looked like at the end. I made it for my good friend in Spain and she loves it!
